How it works

The Amazon forest is the largest rainforest in the world, covering an area of 6.7 million km2, unfortunately deforestation has been carried out for decades (since 1980 the forest surface has decreased by 20%). A rainforest is a humid forest, with frequent rainfall, and with lush vegetation. They are nicknamed “Earth's lungs” because of the enormous amount of oxygen generated by photosynthesis processes. Envira Amazonia aims to protect the forest area by preventing the occurrence of fires and preserving the fragile ecosystem.

Where does it develop?

The project is located in the province of Acre, in the western part of the Amazon rainforest bordering Peru. Envira Amazonia allows the annual capture of 1.2 million tons of CO₂ while preserving 200,000 hectares of forest. CertificationsThe Amazon forest is the habitat of more than 2 million different animal species, Envira Amazonia, preserving its ecosystem, has obtained the Verra CCB (Climate, Community and Biodiversity) certification. Among the species present in the forest, several are at risk of survival, such as macaw parrots, jaguars and crowned eagles.

Benefits

Thanks to the funding received, Envira Amazonia has created several jobs, guaranteeing a reliable source of income for different families. The project allowed access to education for children in need and built new sanitation infrastructures in villages adjacent to the forest. ‍

The project in a nutshell
